Happy Friday!
This week's Closet Remix is my red and black stripes blazer. I had been on the hunt for one and finally found this one at Kohl's earlier this fall. I want to wear more colorful outfits with this blazer. I'll search Pinterest for specific ideas.
Where do you like to get outfit inspiration ideas from?

What a great reminder to always have Faith! I always remind myself that even faith as small as a mustard seed, is enough to see the Grace of God!
Have a great weekend!

Cooking Style: Baked brie phyllo dessert

Ignore the coffee in the background. That was not used : )

Happy Thursday!
I made this dessert for Thanksgiving day. I wanted to make something with lower carbs (my sister is following a low carb diet). I could not find the shells that Skinnytaste used, but instead I used the sheets. I dipped them in butter and folded them into a cup. They were actually pretty good! The recipe is from, of course, Skinnytaste.

3 oz light brie, skin removed cut into (15) 1/2-inch cubes
4 tbsp craisins
4 tbsp chopped walnuts or pecans
2 tbsp honey
15 Mini Phyllo Shells or Sheets

Preheat oven to 325°F.

Combine craisins, chopped nuts and honey in a bowl and mix well.

Arrange sheets into cups on a baking sheet. Fill the sheets with cheese (each piece of cheese weighs about 0.2 oz). Top with sticky craisin/nut mixture and bake 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese melts.

Serve immediately.

Casual Style: Gingham and boots

Shirt: J Crew $17.50 (during in-store sale)(Similar in navy at ON)* Sweater: Tj Maxx $12.99 (recent)(similar at Express) * Jeans: Ross $14 * Boots: Nordstrom * Bag: Nine West via Ross (old) * Necklace: Ebay

Happy Wednesday!
I wore this to church on Sunday. I know, I'm wearing my new boots, again! (Last seen here). I got this shirt during J Crew's recent 30% off sale items sale. I didn't realize it was that great of a deal! I should have bought two. It seems that my style is ever changing, but I am wearing more "preppy" looks lately. I love that I can layer items and not have to wear a jacket!
How would you describe your style? Does it ever change?

Such a great reminder for today and every day. Doesn't it seem that other bloggers seem to have it all together? I know I am not one of those people and at the same time, they might not either. Great reminder to just let it go!

Closet Remix: Polka dots

Outfit 1 (on left)
Outfit 2 (on right)

Happy Friday!
Here is this week's Closet Remix, Polka dots. I bought this top a couple of months ago at Forever 21, and love how it can be worn both for work or for a fun, casual style. I can probably come up with 100 more ways to wear it, so look for more of this top in the future : )

PS Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I did some shopping last night with my sister and my mom. We stopped by Walmart and Target. We have so many family members to buy for (on both my side and B's), that I usually do not shop for myself on Black Friday. But if you are, there are so many great deals from Loft, Ann Taylor, The Limited, J Crew Factory and more!

Life Style: Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving Thursday!

What I am thankful for:

1) Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! For His unfailing love on me (a sinner) and His grace. I am amazed each day that goes by for each little blessing I have been blessed with.

2) For my amazing husband. This past year and half have been very trying for B and I as we struggled with secondary infertility. We are so blessed to have God be the center of our family (even though we are still far from perfect!). For his undenying love 9 years ago when we said "I Do". For being my rock through the hard times and always being the calm one and seeing the positive in every situation. I love you with all my heart!

3) For my amazing (and a blessing) son, Jayden! Specially because of our struggle (see #2), we cherish each minute we have with him. Children are a precious gift from God, and we are so grateful that He gave us the chance to be parents.

4)For my sister, my best friend. My twin sister, Elizabeth, is a 3 1/2 year brain cancer survivor. (Her journey here) God had shown us amazing grace in her healing and the reason for me being born again in Christ! She has been someone I admired to be growing up and even more after her cancer diagnosis. She is compassionate and caring and has an amazing faith! I thank God every day for my sister. Couldn't imagine my life without her!

5) For my wonderful parents. They sacrificied so much for my sister, brother and I and still do so with my son and nephew. For their selfless love, from my growing up years to today.

6) For my extended (and ever growing) extended family. We may not see eye to eye on everything, but we can count on each other for support, no matter what.

7) For my wonderful and amazing friends. I am blessed to have such a huge array of friendships. From my girls from middle and high school, to my college sorority sisters, to friends from my previous employer and my employer now, to friends I have met because of my sister's cancer, and finally to my friends because of my infertility journey and the blogging world. I would not trade each friendship for anything in this world. I have seen so much kindness and unselfishness in so many of my friends, I can only hope I can be half of a friend they have been to me!

8) For my job in pharmaceuticals. I am absolutely blessed to work for such a caring and compassionate company and manager. I remember praying before my first interview with my company 3 years ago this month. The first time I ever prayed (before and interview) and God has blessed me beyond words. 2009 was a year of blessings (Jayden's birth and our beautiful new home) but also much heartache (My sister's diagnosis of brain cancer and huge impending layoff at my previous company). It was also in the fall 2009 that I accepted Christ into my life.

9) For medicine and our health. I am very proud to work for a pharmaceutical company who specializes in the cardiovascular field. And now there are 3 cancer medications in the pipeline. I feel God's calling into the oncology field, but I trust He will also guide me every step of the way. I have seen my sister's healing though medicine by the grace of God, and now to my journey with infertility. I am grateful for my health and all of my family and friends He has blessed us with.

10) For all our men and women who serve in the military. I take it for granted each and every day! There are so many men and women away from their family this holiday season. The sacrifice they do to serve this great country is beyond words. Complete and utterly unselfish. I have a friend whose husband is getting ready to leave to Afghanistan. Their youngest daughter is only 2 months old. Brings tears to my eyes thinking that they and so many families are away from their loved ones to protect our freedom. So, thank you to everyone who serves this great country from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you Lord not only for my blessings, but for my challenges and heartaches. It makes me trust You even more, knowing that You have a much beautiful story that I could ever imagine.

Photography Style: Fall at the park

What he is wearing: Shirt & Shoes- Kohls * Shorts- Target *

We took a walk to the park yesterday afternoon. I dressed Jayden up a little nicer than usual (for a walk in the park kind of outfit). I wanted to shoot some pictures with the sun setting in the background, but we got there a little too early. So, I just let him play away while I snapped away. And can you believe he is wearing shorts and a shirt in November? That is Houston weather for you!

Casual Style: Polka dots and boots

Sweater: Forever 21 $19.80 * Shirt: H&M (Spring 2012) * Jeans: The Limited (old) * Boots: Steve Madden via Nordstrom $98.95

Happy Wednesday!
I've been off this week and enjoying time off with Jayden and my sister, nephew and my mom. I wore this to run errands yesterday, and a stop by the mall. It's hard to see in the pictures, but the pink shirt is gingham. Love how bloggers are mixing polka dots with prints. I thought I would give it a try. And I think I finally found a pair of cognac boots! I have been on the hunt for a couple months and I bought (and returned) 4 pairs. The Steve Madden Candence was my first choice, but they were sold out online at various stores. I went to Nordstrom yesterday to return the BP cognac boots and decided on these SM ones. The shaft size is 14". Perfect for my very short legs.

Cooking Style: Whole Wheat pancakes

Happy Tuesday!
I made these whole wheat pancakes on Saturday. Jayden's soccer season is over and it was so nice to relax (and make pancakes from scracth!) for once. We are trying to eat more natural things, not coming from a box or can, but it can be hard at times. It is so much easier to buy frozen waffles and pop them in the toaster! Anyways, these pancakes were pretty easy to make. I got the recipe, from of course, Skinny Taste.

2 cups whole wheat flour (I used white whole wheat)
4 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups + 2 tbsp fat free milk
2 tsp vanilla
cooking spray

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add wet ingredients to the mixing bowl and mix well with a spoon until there are no more dry spots; don't over-mix.

Heat a large skillet on medium heat. Lightly spray oil to coat and pour 1/4 cup of pancake batter. When the pancake starts to bubble, you may add your fruit if you wish. When the bubbles settle and the edges begin to set, flip the pancakes. Repeat with the remainder of the batter.

I find comfort in these words every time I am reminded of them!

Weekend Style: Hearts and burgundy

Top: Kohls (Sept. 2012 on clearance) $9 * Jeans: Elle via Kohls $22 * Shoes: Bakers (old) * Necklace: EBay * Clutch: Forever 21

Happy Monday!
B and I went on a date night Saturday night and this is what I wore. We went to eat yummy Mexican food and then walked around the plaza, shopped and listened to outdoor music. I stopped by J Crew and picked up a couple of their items on sale. Sale items were all an additional 30% off. It was a nice relaxing night that we both needed.
