Leave of absence

I am not going to be posting on here for a while. I am in the hospital on bed rest with our twins. I am 24 weeks pregnant today and taking it one day at a time. I usually like to keep this blog upbeat so I'll be blogging in my other family blog, here.
I appreciate all your thoughts & prayers during this time.

Life Style: Run for the Rose

Hi friends,
Yesterday was the Annual "Run for the Rose" race benefitting brain cancer research. I was there in spirit, since I'm on bed rest and I'll be here for a while. (The babies are continuing to do well in my womb. I just have to rest and take it one day at a time). We had family and friends come support this wonderful organization, and of course my wonderful twin sister, hero and survivor, Eli.
I love seeing all the pictures of the kids in their Team Eli shirt!
The Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation is such a wonderful organization that has raised over $3 million to MD Anderson Cancer Center and Children's Memorial Hermann.
You can read more info on my sister's journey with brain cancer here.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Pregnancy News: Day 20 of Bed Rest

It's been hard to blog about much of anything, since I'm laying in bed all day long. I decided to at least talk about day to day activities, but not on a daily basis because I'll bore you all to death. Lol
Honestly, I am so grateful for my wonderful parents, sister, family, friends, co workers, neighbors and the list can go on, for showing so much support during a difficult time. My wonderful high school girlfriends are taking turns making us dinner every night! They each have full time jobs and families but yet they find the time to make a home cooked meal for us! Or friends who text me just to check how my day is going, numerous phone calls and I'm not a phone talker. But times like these I look forward to my phone ringing! My dad is doing work from my house so he can keep me company and cater to my demands (food! snacks!) on a daily basis. While my mom continues to take care of Jayden and my nephew, to keep their normal routine going. And cooking me a home cooked lunch every day! My sister who comes over every day after work to keep me company and watch movies on Saturday. Girly ones, 3-4 in one sitting!
Sometimes I wonder if God has allowed me to face this challenge to see the kindness and generosity in other people. When my sister was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2009, we also saw this selfless and tender generosity from so many. To this day, I can tell you who texted, called, emailed, prayed, cooked and that was almost 4 years ago! If anything this has opened my eyes and my heart to pay attention when others are in need. We can each make the world a little brighter, just by a simple gesture.

Thanks for reading,

Ps I forgot to mention how wonderful Jayden and my nephew have been. They massage my feet! Get me whatever it is I may need and make the day a little brighter each time.
Here is a picture of Jayden and I playing doctor. He found post it notes and turn them into bandages. Obviously he thinks I'm really sick, hence the tons of "bandages"!

Pregnancy News: 22 weeks

Top: Liz Lange Maternity via Target * Leggings: I heart Ronson via JCP (You know I'm on bed rest when I have no shoes on!)

How far along?: 22 weeks. The picture above is from Easter, I was 21 weeks then. Kind of hard to take pictures when you are on bed rest. I skipped my 5 minute shower to watch the kids egg hunt, for 5 minutes : )

Total weight gain: Up to 135 lbs, so 22 lb weight gain. And this was at the doctor's office (where you know the scale adds at least 5 lbs!) I haven't gained any weight in a month, but my OB is not worried since the babies are growing!

Maternity clothes?: Yup, full on maternity clothes. This belly is only getting bigger! I am measuring 30 cm (my fundal height that is). So, as big as a 30 week pregnant woman with one. Yikes!

Stretch marks?: None. Yet...

Sleep: Most nights I sleep pretty well. It's kind of hard to enjoy sleeping at night now, since I'm in bed 24/7.

Best moment this week: I am just so grateful that the babies are doing so well! I had a rescue cerclage put in at 19 weeks, 5 days that saved their lives!

Miss anything?: No. Bed rest is no joke, but again, I will do anything to keep these babies in as long as I can. I am leaving it all up to God, and I know He will make sure we get as close to full term as possible. I have the rest of my life to enjoy the things I "miss".

Movement: Yes! They are both so active, especially Baby A, which is baby boy on my left. He is head down and baby girl is across on top.

Food cravings: I think they have stopped. LOL Seriously, I just want them to be healthy, I am not thinking much about sugar. My usual craving!

Symptoms: My stomach gets hard, so I have to time to make sure they are not real contractions.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

Labor Signs: Since I obviously don't feel pain from contractions, I just monitor them more closely. I'm also on medicine at home to stop any contractions.

Wedding rings on or off?: On. Since I'm at home all day, I usually don't put them on.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Honestly, I'm just grateful and taking it one day at time.

Looking forward to: Every milestone from now on, 24 weeks, then 28 weeks. I might start breathing a little easier when I make it past 32 weeks!

Some more pictures from Easter.

Life Style: Camping Trip

My boys in Gruene, TX.

Jayden and mommy.

Hi friends!
I know it has been a while. It has been a stressful couple of weeks and I am on strict bed rest at home. The babies are doing really well, and I just keep praying they stay in there quite a bit longer.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" Phil 4:13

We went camping during Spring Break to one of our favorite family camp sites, Jellystone Park. They have so many activities for kids, and Jayden always has  blast. We were there last year for Memorial Weekend with my parents, and we went this year with my in laws.
Gruene, TX is a beautiful little town not far from there and we were able to visit as well. Overall, it was such a relaxing few days spent with family!
