Work Style: Floral and neon

Top: Cabi // Pants: Gap // Clutch: c/o my sister via Stella & Dot // Necklaces: Stella & Dot (Somervell and Engravable) // Shoes: JS by Jessica Simpson via DSW (similar)

Happy Thursday!
We've had record high temps this week and I am doing every thing I can to stay professional and cool at the same time. Which is why you might see me wearing more sleeveless tops and dresses. This outfit will also look great with a white or gray blazer. I can't say enough great things about these pants either. I got them for a great deal a few weeks ago in store (about $20) and are really my favorite pair of pants.

We are planning a last minute get away this weekend! My in laws have volunteered to watch the kids for us this weekend so we can celebrate our 11th Wedding Anniversary. We don't do trips last minute, but when you have willing (and able) babysitters, you take it and run. That's our plan : )

Fit Wednesday: Finding new workouts

Hi guys,
It's a late edition of Fit Wednesday but wanted to update you and keep you motivated this week. You know how much I love my work out videos (Insanity, Focus T25), but I have been running these past couple of weeks and I've been feeling great! It's so easy to get into boredom mode with your workouts. I do it! Your body needs a change of pace to get out if the rut, and running has been one of those easy changes for me. I'm not one to love running. I'm usually the one who says I hate running. Ha! But the change of scenery these past couple of weeks have been great. I felt my body was starting to hit a plateau. I wanted to do a blog post about falling if the wagon, so to speak. It happens. But being healthy and fit takes work, but it also be part of your life.

So change up your routine. Whether it's running or Pilates or a new workout DVD, but doing something fun each day to keep up the motivation. If you want to take a few days off, do it! I actually ended up hurting my back last week. It was pretty bad. I hurt it doing one my workout videos because I was not in the mood to workout. Seriously! Not a smart move, and I learned my lesson. I had to sit out for about 4-5 days to recover. I think it's my age! Lol. I'm not getting younger, so I have to make sure I'm always doing the things to be safe during my workouts. Which tajes me to another topic. Invest in a good pair of tennis shoes. I finally did, and I'm going to say that's the one of the reasons I've been enjoying running as well.

So here are a few motivating pictures to get you going!
Have a great Wednesday!

This one makes me laugh :)

Work Style: Nude and teal

Dress: J Lo via Kohls (on major sale in store) // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff via Marshall's // Necklace: My Stella & Dot // Bracelets: My Stella & Dot (1, 2) // Shoes: Target (old)

Happy Monday!
We had a busy weekend with the family but Ava was sick most of the weekend :( I took her to the doctor Friday and she had a virus. Her heart rate was elevated so pediatrician recommended EKG (I noticed the fast heart rate too and that scared me). Needless to say, the EKG was no fun and couldn't do it. She was terrified and obviously, that messes with the reading of EKG. Sunday I took her to a Pediatric Urgent care and she had a ear infection at this point. I feel like my boys are tougher but when it comes to Ava being sick, it's miserable. So here is to medicine and lots of prayers to help her feel better! And my 5 year old shared with me that he is so glad he is not a grown up. Because taking care of sick babies is hard work. Smart boy.

About the outfit today: I wanted to keep a nude palette going with a bit of color. I love, love this teal necklace and decided to add that just for a bit of color. And this dress was only a whopping $2.88 with tax and all. (I had $10 Kohls cash and coupon). I wish I could tell you all I shop the sales rack all the time. I should! And you should too. Ha! But I never have the patience. But it payed off this time.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Twin Talk Blog

We are featured on TwinTalkBlog today where I share my story on my 86 day hospital stay and our miracle twins.

Name: Katherine

Where do you currently live? Houston, Texas

How far along were you when you found out you were expecting twins? 6 weeks

Any issues during your pregnancy? I was having contractions around 16 weeks. At almost 20 weeks I went in to see my perinatalogist and I was dilated and my cervix was really short. I was sent immediately to the hospital next door to get an emergency rescue cerclage. I was then put on home bed rest for three weeks. I continued to have contractions and was hospitalized at 23 weeks. I spent 86 days at the hospital, most of it on complete bed rest. By the Grace of God, I carried my twins to 35 weeks 2 days.

Memorable/funny moment when you were pregnant: I have an identical twin sister and always wanted twins. My sister and I both knew one of us would have them. My cousin had her twins in July 2012, and I found out I was expecting twins in December 2012. We felt so blessed that God did bless us with two little miracles.

Looking back, what is one thing you would tell your pregnant self? Everything is going to be ok. It was a very hard pregnancy but God was good through it all. He is the reason, along with my family and friends, that I was able to stay in bed for so long.

How many weeks/days were you when your twins were born? 35 weeks, 2 days

Baby A's Information: Ava Elizabeth
July 9, 2013
5 lbs 9 oz
18 3/4 in

Baby B's Information: Aiden Michael
July 9th, 2013
4 lbs
16 1/2 in

Did you have a c-section or natural delivery? I had a c-section. My perinatalogist gave my OB the ok to take out my cerclage at 34 weeks, 5 days. I was dilated to 7 cm just 3 days later. My twins were born at 35 weeks 2 days.

Any NICU time? If yes, for what reason and how long? Ava -10 days, apnea episode and hanging out with brother. Aiden - IUGR (Intrauterine growth restriction), which is why he was only 4 lbs. He was there for 11 days for feeding and growing.

Did you have any complications after delivery? No complications.

How long did you (the parents) stay in the hospital? 3 days postpartum, 86 days prepartum.

Did your twins stay with you or in the hospital nursery at night? NICU

What are three things you are so glad you had (or wish you would have had) at the hospital?
My faith
My family
My friends
They were my rock during my long hospital stay. I can't say it enough. Hospital bed rest is one of the hardest things I've been through. My faith is stronger because of it!

Describe one of your favorite moments while you were at the hospital: The day they were both born, small but healthy. There were many times we never thought we would get to that point. We had many neonatologists speak to us about the risks of having micro-preemies at 23 weeks, then 28 weeks. After 32 weeks, they stopped coming in because we had beat the odds. It truly is a miracle!

If you had one piece of advice you could give an expecting mom of twins, what would it be? Relax, take it easy, and listen to your body. Enjoy every single minute. You are growing two miracles in there. :)

I had to post at least one picture :)

The twins are 2 months old here.

Work Style: Sheinside skirt and mint top

Top: Macy's (similar) // Skirt: Sheinside // Shoes: Guess via DSW // Bag: Forever 21 (similar) // Necklace: Stella & Dot // Bracelets: Stella & Dot (1, 2), Gift from my dad, Macy's

One of the great things about being in the blogging world and reading so many blogs is finding out about so many different stores and shops. Not only for myself, but for my kids as well. We all want that one of kind piece that no one else is wearing, in your daily life that is. I have been wanting to try out since seeing a few outfits on other bloggers. And I've been on the midi skirt kick lately. I decided to order 2 skirts from them. I fell in love with this skirt as soon as I took it out of the box. The color and pattern is great, the length is perfect and fit just right. I find them to be true to size even though some comments said they run a bit small. The material is thin, and I do have to wear a slip underneath. Overall, I am pleased with this skirt!

Have you heard of Sheinside? Would you recommend them to others if you have bought from them?

Have a great Wednesday!

* This is not a sponsored post. I like trying out new brands and like to discuss them on my blog for others to try.

Recipe Tuesday: Healthy toddler meals

Ground turkey and avocado.
Cook lean ground turkey in a little bit of olive oil. Add spices of your choice. We like to use salt, pepper and some garlic.

Grilled chicken and broccoli and cheese

Ava loving it! This was also the same day she drank whole milk from her straw sippy cup and never looked back. Good bye pink bottles. Yay!

We are trying different cups with Aiden until we find the perfect one for him.

Hard boiled egg and green beans
I just added a little bit of light salt to both.

Aiden was not to sure about this.

Ava on the other hand, loves every finger food we give her!

These are a couple of healthy and simple toddler meals. There are a ton out there, especially on Pinterest. Ava loves to eat and feed herself. Aiden prefers pureed food and we make it a bit chunkier for him.

Other easy to make and easy to grasp for small fingers foods:

Rice and mashed potatoes
Pasta and ground turkey
Homemade cheese pizza
Angel hair pasta with a little bit of butter
Chicken and peas
Ground turkey and black beans
Cheese Quesadillas

Any other items you are feeding your one year olds? Please share in the comments. I would love to try new things for the twins.

Work Style: Pink polka dots

Top: Old Navy // Jacket: Loft (old, similar) // Skirt: Eshakti // Shoes: Steve Madden via Marshalls // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff via Marshalls // Necklace: Stella & Dot // Bracelets: Stella & Dot

Happy Monday!
I'm back with a polka dot look for you today. Pink and polka dots are definitely my new favorite combination! And I'm also back with another Eshakti midi skirt. It flatters, and it's long enough for my busy lifestyle. I wore it to work here, and I have also worn it to church, styled a little differently.

It has been a busy couple weeks, but now that the summer is winding down, I'm hoping to blog a bit more.

I hope you guys have a great Monday!
