Sister Style: The Statement Necklace

Entire Outfit: White House Black Market // Necklace and Earrings: Stella & Dot

My (twin) sister is a speech therapist in an elementary school district. She works with a special education team consisting of other therapists, psychologists and social workers. They test children to see if they qualify for special needs education. She is also a cancer survivor, wife, mommy, has an amazing faith and my hero. AND she has joined Stella & Dot to become one of their stylists! I am so excited for her and will do a few posts showing all the great jewelry they have. They have great promotions every month and I picked up a few pieces already. And the best way to get free items is to be a trunk show host. It's a win-win in my book : )
I will showcase her more casual (but still polished) style. I love how the necklace really stands out against her white tee and pants. I have seen this fan-style necklace on so many bloggers lately, and Stella and Dot's products have such great quality.
Anyways, here is her page if you would like to stop by and browse their great products.

Here are a few pictures with the Sardinia Pendant.

Recipe Tuesday: Chicken with asparagus and mushrooms

Here is a simple, yet healthy way to change up dinner a bit. I decided to try a Paleo way of eating, these last few weeks before our beach vacation. It pretty means you eat natural foods, mainly fruits and veggies. We all know how bad processed foods are for us (anything that comes out of a box or can), but I think making minor changes to your eating habits is the best way to get used to eating healthy.

Chicken Breasts (I love the Simple Truth brand at Kroger)
1 teaspoon of olive oil
spices: I use garlic salt, lemon pepper, salt and pepper
a bunch of asparagus
sliced mushrooms

Cook the chicken the best way you like. I just fry it with a bit of olive oil after seasoning them.
Cut the asparagus into 3 pieces, and cook them in a separate skillet.
Add a bit of water and add the mushrooms to chicken. Brown a bit.
Add the asparagus. And voila, simple and healthy.

This week's Dinner menu:
Monday- Chicken and kale salad, with fresh baked sweet potatoes (I'll show recipe next week)
Tuesday- Chicken salad
Wednesday- Turkey Meatloaf with Flax meal and walnuts
Thursday- Pale curry chicken stir fry
Friday- Almond and Basil Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Saturday/ Sunday- Shrimp and cucumber salad

I do a lot of work lunches, so I usually eat a combination of chicken or fish and salad. I snack on almonds, dried fruit and fruit. For breakfast, I have been making fruit with kale smoothies with PB 2 and matcha green powder.

Work Style: Hot pink and aqua

Top: Marshalls (similar) // Skirt: The Limited (old, similar) // Jewelry and Bag: Forever 21 // Shoes: Steve Madden via Marshalls

Happy Monday!
If you saw my previous posts, you know we had a busy weekend. Phew! But here is a colorful outfit for Monday. I can't get enough of hot pink and decided to pair it with aqua skirt. I added mint accessories to add more color to the aqua.
I always add neutral colored shoes if I wear bright colors, just to keep the look classy.

Are you wearing bright colors this Spring?

Life Style: Texas Bluebonnets

c="" />

Aiden's Outfit (Baby boy): Gift // Ava's Dress: Marshalls and Bow: Little London Lou on Etsy // Jayden's Outfit: Children's Place

Bluebonnets. We drove 1 1/2 hours outside of Houston to find them. Tons of people flock to them every Spring, just to take beautiful pictures of their kids. I took a ton of shots and it was still very hard to get all 3 to look at the camera. But I still love looking at each picture. This is how our life looks like. Jayden can sit still for a few minutes, and the babies, well are into everything. Now you know why I said am staying in this weekend coming up : )

Spring Style: Casual Weekend Outfits for Spring

I’ve been going through some of my options for spring and I came across some casual looks that are comfy and chic. Layering your clothes during this time of year is great way to keep warm on those chilly days, and the pieces can be easily removed as they day gets warmer. Whether you throw on a scarf like the one from Banana Republic, or a light cardigan from Target, it’s the safest way to ensure you’ll be comfortable throughout the day. Accessories are a fun way to complete any outfits and I love doing so by adding a piece of jewelry or fun shoes, like the ones I found at Michael Kors. I also came across some plus size clothing options from One Stop Plus that are chic and also a great example showing that everyone can have fun with clothes this season.

Thoughtful Thursday: Spending quality time with each child

One of the things (of so many!) I had to really learn to manage was finding that quality time with each of my kids. We got to give Jayden complete attention for 4 years and 4 months before the twins were born. We found our routine with our little family of 3 and it just worked. Jayden and I found one thing we both liked to do: bake cookies together. It was our mommy and son thing. B wanted nothing to do with it, he just wanted to eat the cookies after we were done. LOL I still remember, and getting teary-eyed now, the first time we baked cookies together after my long hospital stay. He was so excited! I think little things like that really make a child feel happy, and most importantly, loved.

My mom recently told me of a program she heard on the news and the importance of spending quality time with each child individually. They just said 15 minutes a day. Which got me thinking, that is all our children can get from each of us? And I know it's hard for working moms and stay at home moms alike. There is always so much to be done around the house, but I realize the importance of quality time with each child, individually.

I just wanted to share some things I do with each of my kids to give the individual and quality time.
Preschooler (My oldest just turned 5):
* We bake cookies together. He helps put all the ingredients in and loves to lick the bowl afterwards : )
* Making crafts together, according to a Holiday. It seems that when you have kids, you now celebrate every Holiday!
* Take a walk to the park together
* Reading a book/saying your prayers before bedtime
* Board games (Our family favorite is Monopoly Jr.)
* Puzzles, especially the floor ones that take a long time to put together

Infant (9 month old twins)
* B and I each have one assigned baby for night duty (that counts as quality time, right? Nothing like snuggling at 3am when they will not go back to sleep. LOL)
* We always do floor time after dinner, before bath time. We take turns with each baby.
* Bath time. I bathe separately since there is no way I could bathe both at the same time. But it gives me time to talk to each individually.
* Having a special song for each baby. Having a special nickname for each baby.
* Reading a book geared to each child. Ava loves baby books. Aiden loves animals.
* Remember to treat twins as individuals. They have their own personalities, things they like and things they do not like.

Please share what else you mommies are doing. I'm always looking for new things to try with the kiddos.

And I can't leave you without a few pictures of my sweet family.
