Top: Target // Jeans: Loft // Shoes: Marshall's // Bag: Marshall's // Necklace: Stella & Dot (1,2)  // Bracelet: Stella & Dot // Sunnies: Maui Jim

Happy Tuesday!
I hope you guys had an awesome Labor Day weekend. We enjoyed the last few days of summer hanging out with family. Even though we will still enjoy summer temps for at least another month :)
I love this off the shoulder top that I bought from Target a couple weeks ago. Such a great summery piece with distressed jeans. I also bought these nude heels from Marshall's to put together a neutral look.

Life Style: A clean and organized home

Hi guys,

I am trying to get back into blogging. I'll start with a guest blogger today, Kathleen and what better way to start than with organization. I mentioned last time that I started a new position at work along with juggling my wife and mommy duties. I can always use tips to better organize my home and life :)

Take it away Kathleen.

4 Simple Strategies for a Clean and Organized Home

Tired of overcrowded shelves, out of place toys, and books and magazines all over the place? With your busy life you probably have no time for housework. But if you develop a good cleaning system and you involve family members in it, you will manage to keep your home in sparkling condition. Here are four simple strategies to keep your home organized and clean.

1. Find a home for all toys

One thing is for sure, if you don't have a designated place for all your child's toys, chances are you trip on them all the time in the living room, in the playroom and even in the kitchen (because kids like dropping things everywhere).

You can store all your children's toys in a wicker bin or hamper. A great idea is to use color containers so when your children have to clean up their toys, they will put the red ones in a red container, the green ones in a green container, and so on and so forth. This will lessen the likelihood that they will lose their toys. Imagine your kid screaming to the top of their lungs that they want that blue toy not the green one. And then everyone in the house starts looking for the blue toy because your small one just won't be able to get through the day without it. Yeah, sweet moments. If you really want to save yourself some headaches, do find a home for your children's toys. They may not notice the difference, but you will.

2. Keep your closet organized

What's the point of keeping your home organized if your closet is overcrowded and you can't find anything there? If you need to search for your favorite T-shirt for ages or you have a huge pile of scarves on the floor, it means it's time to do something about it. First, sort through your clothes to see if you wear all of them. You will surely find items you haven't used in a year. If so, just dispose of it. Then make sure to place the clothes you wear frequently in the front of your closet. Keep all out of season clothes on higher shelves or in the back of the closet. Keep shoes in one place. Use hangers to organize your dresses, skirts, belts and scarves.

3. Let family members know who is in charge of what

Creating a system for who does what in the house is another essential step are saying from Fulham Clean StartAs much as your family wants to leave all domestic chores to you, they have to get their fair share, too. Put one person in charge of washing the dishes and another in charge of folding clothes. Dividing housework has many benefits. It keeps everyone busy around the home. Instead of one person doing everything and complaining about it, everybody will be involved. Plus, family members are less likely to make messes if they know they'll have to clean them themselves. What's more, you'll know who to blame for the dirty plates in the sink or the unattended laundry in the bathroom. No more finger-pointing. Now you will be able to tell who didn't do their part. Dividing the burden also means more free time for you.

4. Use storage wisely

Make sure to use all available storage space and put all items you don't use regularly out of sight but within easy access. If you are short of space, utilize wall storage and all the nooks and crannies available in the house. Doors make great storage areas as well. And what about that space above your kitchen cabinets? You just need to be more creative.

Are there any other strategies you like using? We would love to hear about them.

Palm print and white

Top: Lilly for Target // Jeans: Old Navy // Shoes: Guess via DSW // Clutch: Stella & Dot 1, 2 // Necklace: Stella & Dot 1,2

I love this top from Lilly for Target! It's supposed to be a crop top, but I'm so tall, err, short, it's always long enough as long as I wear high waist pants or skirt.
I have a couple different necklaces and clutches on here. My sister is having a sample sale and we were trying out different looks.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Monday!
I'm back! Sorry, I've been gone for a while. I accepted a new position at work and I have so busy. I am also working in hospitals more therefore wearing scrubs more often. One of my co workers told me I am going to have to bling out my scrubs. Lol. Yes I am! I love dressing up, putting outfits together and the creativity behind it is what motivates me to keep up this blog. It has always been a way for me to express my personality and individuality. I will try to keep up this blog as much as I can as a hobby. I have met so many wonderful women through blogging and hope to continue to do so!

Anyways, about the outfit. I picked up these jeans at Old Navy on super sale. I am not shopping as much as I used to, but stopped by Old Navy during a promo sale on their clearance items. Picked these up for $14 and are my new favorite pair of jeans : ) Something to do with my new love for mid rise jeans, let me tell you : ) I can't get away from peplum tops either! I try to post my daily outfits (when I'm not wearing scrubs) on instagram so follow me there.

Thank you guys for your support always!

The twins are almost 2 and My 1st Years

Happy Friday!
I hope you are enjoying your day off, if you're off today. We are hanging out at home this long weekend and spending time with family. We are getting ready for the Twins' 2nd birthday next week! I can't even begin to put into words how I feel about them turning 2! Where did my babies go?? They have grown so much this past years, it's crazy. One of the things I love about blogging is hearing of many brands worldwide. My 1st Years approached me to review a few things from their website. I chose these two stuffed bears which are perfect for their upcoming birthday.

They came in a beautiful packaged blue box, shipping was pretty quick and I'm a sucker for anything personalized. They have so many items you can choose from at affordable prices. Their items are perfect for baby showers, birthdays, and any special occasion. You can check out their website at My 1st Years.

Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

* I received these items for free but as always, all opinions are my own.

Lace and floral

Happy Monday!
I have made June a no shop month. I will honestly say that it has opened up my eyes to see pieces in my closet I haven't worn in a while. And it also does not hurt that I can "shop" in my sister's closet. I love anything lace so love this top since it's also pale pink. I did put these items together last minute last week, but love how they look together. I can't get enough pink either!

We had a great weekend spending time with family and enjoying the beautiful weather. We also booked our family trip for the summer! Hope you had a great weekend!

Gingham and white

Happy Monday!

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend at home. We did absolutely nothing on Saturday after Jayden's soccer game. On Sunday we went to church and enjoyed a beautiful day at the pool with the family. My parents, sister, nephew and in laws joined us so we had plenty of hands to help us with the kids. We had so many helping, I even had a chance to read half of Shape magazine : ) I will definitely say this joyful and restful weekend has gotten me ready for another week today.

I wore this outfit head to toe to church. I don't usually wear jeans, since I can't wear them to work (bummer!) so I try to wear them whenever I can. I love that gingham is such a classic piece. I've had this blouse from J Crew for at least 3 years and got inspiration from another blogger to try it with white jeans. I added cognac accessories and my new Hibiscus pendant from Stella & Dot.

Top: J Crew (similar) // Jeans: Old Navy // Belt: Ebay (similar) // Shoes: Mossimo via Target // Bag: Dooney & Bourke (similar) // Earrings: Stella & Dot (worn as studs) // Necklace: Stella & Dot // Bracelets: Stella & Dot (1,2)

I could see myself wearing this outfit next year, as these are all staple pieces. I recently did a major closet cleaning and picked up quite a few new pieces the last couple of months. So now I am working with remixing my closet and finding tons of ways to wear one item. I will try to showcase one item throughout the next few weeks so you guys can get ideas on how to remix your closet as well.
I will also add that these jeans are mid rise. Where have they been all my life?? As a mom of 3, I can't wear the low rise anymore : )

Have a wonderful Monday!

Banana nut chocolate chip muffins

In case you didn't know, I love sweets. I'm always looking for new recipes or perfecting the ones I have. I found this new recipe and adapted it with my own usual ingredients. It is absolutely delicious! I usually bake with King Arthur's Whole Wheat flour to make it a tad healthier. I also added pecans to add another yummy ingredient.

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
from Cheeseboard Collective Works Cookbook via Mara
makes 12-16 muffins, depending on the size of the pan

1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 banana, mashed {about 3/4 cup}
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup sour cream
2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt (I always omit salt from my recipes)
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Generously butter or spray the top and cups of a 12-cup muffin pan.

In a medium bowl, combine the egg, egg yolk, bananas, vanilla extract, and sour cream/yogurt. Whisk until blended.

Sift the flour, baking soda, and baking powder together into the bowl of a stand mixer or a large bowl.

If using a stand mixer, add the salt and sugar to the dry ingredients and mix with the paddle attachment on low speed for about 4 minutes, or until butter is the size of small peas. Mix in the chocolate chips. Make a well in the center and pour in the wet ingredients. With a few rotations of the paddle, gently combine, taking care not to overmix the batter.

If mixing by hand, add the salt and sugar to the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon until combined. Add the butter and cut it in with a pastry cutter or two dinner knives until it is the size of small peas. Mix in the chocolate chips. Make a well in the center and pour in the wet ingredients. With a few stroked of the spoon, gently combine, taking care not to overmix the batter.

With an ice cream scoop or large soup spoon, fill the prepared muffin cups until the batter just peeks over the top of the pan. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for about 20-30 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown, firm, and springy. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Unmold the muffins onto a wire rack to cool.

Hope you enjoy them as much as we did : )
